STUDENT'S TO RESUME IN EKITI STATE UNIVERSITY AFTER 3 OMNTYS STRIKE

There was jubilation among students of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) on Thursday, 
March 15, as its chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) finally called off its strike which its lecturers embarked upon since January, 2018.  reports States  that members of ASUU in the university embarked on the action over unresolved staff welfare issues and unpaid salaries. The resolution came today after ASUU meeting held, and 53% of members voted for strike call-off, if management could pay at least one month salary and one month deduction.  however, that 43% voted for the continuation of the strike. It was learnt that ASUU decision came as the management of the institution also announced plans to pay one month salary and one month deduction, while negotiation continues on other aspects of the requests by the academic staff. Kolapo Olusola-Eleka, the state’s deputy governor, had earlier hinted about the suspension of the strike while addressing a section of students’ representatives who came to stage a pro-government rally.
