Bayero University Kano on Tuesday, April 3
commenced its five-day long 34th convocation events with 8,634 grandaunts
expected to be conferred with certificates in various disciplines. According to
the vice chancellor of the university, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello, 5,401
first degrees; 70 PhDs; 1,833 master’s degrees, and 656 postgraduate diploma
certificates would be awarded to deserving grandaunts at the convocation,
adding that 72 students were due for first class degrees, this was noted during the commencement of the convocation on
Tuesday, 932 candidates from five selected faculties were conferred with first
degrees honors. According to the VC, 25
graduated with first class honors, while 283 others obtained second class upper
division. Professor Bello added that 399 students had second class lower
division while 205 others finished with third class degrees, besides 20 others
who had pass. The VC sated that the convocation events were scheduled for five
days so as to give ample opportunity to grandaunts in the different faculties
to celebrate their academic exploits.
