BREAKING NEWS: A Student killed as Protest Rocks Plateau College

- A student of the college of education Gindiri in Mangu local government area of Plateau state has reportedly lost his life 

- The students embarked on a protest to demand the release of the identification card and the cancellation of a National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) policy 

- The students reportedly burnt the school clinic and also damaged several cars belonging to staff 

Pandemonium on Thursday, February 22, stuck Mangu local government area of Plateau state when a student of the college of education Gindiri in the state lost his life while property believed to worth millions of naira were destroyed during a protest. 

New Telegraph reports that the students protested to demand the release of the identification card and the cancellation of a National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) policy. 

Report stated that, the management, however, shut down academic activities indefinitely.

According to the protesters, although paid money to the school, but whenever they approach the school clinic, the management will ask them to pay money. 

During the protest, the students burnt the school clinic and also damaged several cars belonging to staff as well as destroyed doors and windows of the Administrative Buildings of the institution before the arrival of the security agencies. 

It was learnt that in the midst of the protests, one student was hit by stray bullet and died on the spot. 

The public relations officer of the college Elizabeth Aboreng disclosed that the students from NCE Two class had protested the release of their ID card by the school management. 

Aboreng said the students later took laws into their hands by burning down property in the institution, including the school clinic and an ambulance.

She said: ''The management of the institution has close down the school indefinitely, because the students of NCE two had issues of Identification Card which was not released to them, but they met the acting Provost, Cornelius Ka-ankuka and he resolved that the ID Card was to be made available. 

''But surprisingly today (yesterday) the students went on the rampage without waiting to collect the ID cards and burnt down two ambulances belonging to the school, burnt down the clinic and also destroyed staff cars.'' 

The state police public relations officer Mathias Tyopev confirmed the incident. Tyopev said he was expecting details from the divisional police officer in charge of Gindiri.

Attack by Cult Group at LASPOTECH Ikorodu Campus kills one

- An attacked by a cult group on the Ikorodu campus of the Lagos state Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), has claimed the life of a former student of the school 

- The spokesman of the institution, Olanrewaju Kuye, told newsmen that the attack took place on Tuesday, February 20 

- Chike Oti, the spokesman, Lagos state police command reported that the attack was a reaction from the cult group following an alleged attack on one of their members 

One person was killed while several others were wounded on Tuesday, February 20, following a bloody attack on Ikorodu campus of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) by suspected cultists. 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the deceased, identified as Ahmed Amao, was a former LASPOTECH student who had been expelled from the institution. 

The groups of hoodlums invaded the Ikorodu campus from different directions, chasing the students around the polytechnic with guns, machetes and knives. 

LASPOTECH spokesman, Olanrewaju Kuye, told newsmen that the terrified students alerted the institution’s security personnel on sighting the hoodlums, comprising some former students of the polytechnic. 

Kuye said: “So, we had to chase them out the campus via the polytechnic’s first gate; but when we got there, we discovered another set (hoodlums) approaching from the adjourning village to attack our students. 

“Upon sighting our security men the gang began to shoot at will and our security men had no choice but to retaliate. Unfortunately, we hit one of the hoodlums, Ahmed Amao, a former student who had been expelled for examination malpractice. We learnt he died on Wednesday.’’ 

He added that but for the prompt response of the institution’s security personnel, many students could have lost their lives in the attack. 

Kuye assured parents of the safety of their wards following the attack on the campus by suspected cultists. 

Kuye also stated: “They should go on with their normal duties because nothing untoward will happen to them. Our security men now wield firearms too and our students have our phone numbers for prompt response. We will not take chances." 

Confirming the incident, Chike Oti, spokesman, Lagos state police command, told newsmen that the attackers were on revenge mission following an attack on one of their members. Oti said two suspects were arrested with a locally made pistol following the incident. 

There was heavy presence of gun-wielding security personnel comprising the police, Oyabo (local vigilante) and private guards when news correspondents visited LASPOTECH Ikorodu campus on Wednesday, February 21. 

Yobe School Girl gives Strict Condition for Returning to Class

- One of the students of Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, who recently escaped from being captured by Boko Haram says she will not return back to the school 

- She said chief of army staff Lt. Gen. Yusuf Tukur Buratai must be the gateman of the school before she returns 

- Faiza also added that one of her classmate was bitten by a snake as they tried to escaped their way through the bushes 

One of the girls who escaped Boko Haram onslaught at Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Faiza Mohammed, says she will not go back to school except Yusuf Tukur Buratai, the chief of army staff Lt. General is the gateman of the school. 

Faiza who recounted her experiences said one of her classmate was bitten by a snake as they tried to escaped their way through the bushes in the night to unknown destinations, the Natio reports. 

Faiza said: “Our teachers tried to keep us together. They tried their best to control us not to scatter into the bush but some stubborn students started jumping the fence to run into the bush. There were some of us that hide into nearby houses from the school.” 

Going further, she added that: “I told my mother that I will not go back to that school again except Buratai is the gateman. But my sisters daughter told me that my demands are impossible because Buratai cannot come down to Dapchi to become gateman at my school. What I simply want is for government to provide for us enough security. 

“Because of what my sister said. I will go back but if I see not security, I will just come back and study at home and write my final exams and my JAMB," Faiza said. 

Meanwhile, its been reported that President Muhammadu Buhari directed minister of defence, retired Brig-Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali; minister of information, Lai Mohammed; and that of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama to visit Dapchi village in Yobe to assess the reported abduction of schoolgirls. 

Lai Mohammed made this known when he briefed State House correspondents after the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC). The meeting, which was held at the State House Council Chamber on Wednesday, February 22, was presided over by President Buhari.

No school girl was abducted in the suspected Boko Haram insurgents attack in Dapchi town, Yobe state commissioner of police, Abdulmaliki Sumonu, has said - Sumonu said no life was lost but three males were later abducted by the insurgents in a remote community after the attack on Dapchi - Suspected Boko Haram terrorists had attacked the Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, in Burasari local government area of Yobe state.


 Abdulmaliki Sumonu, the Yobe commissioner of police, on Tuesday, February 20, said that there was no loss of live in the suspected Boko Haram insurgents attack on Government Girls College in Dapchi town. 


Reports state that terrorists attacked the town on Monday, February 19, and carted away foodstuffs at the Government Girls College, while firing sporadically forcing staff and students to flee into surrounding for safety. 

Sumonu told newsmen in Yobe that three males were later abducted by the insurgents in a remote community in Geidam local government area after the attack on Dapchi.


 Minister Dambazzau meets with IGP, police chiefs He said so far, there was no report of abduction of any of the girls in the school. “We are still collecting the details on the attack, census of the girls and the general public,” he said. 

Report gathered from Dapchi residents that there was no casualty recorded and no injury sustained as the terrorists sporadically shot in the air to scare people away when they arrived in the town.

 According to the residents, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the terrorists carted away food items from the stores of the Government Girls College, Dapchi, and petrol from hawkers, who abandoned their products to run for safety. 

Reports also recalls that there were fears on Monday over the safety of students of the Government Girls Secondary School, GGSS Dapchi, in Bursari local government area of Yobe state, over the reported presence of insurgents in the area. 

Yobe attack: ‘Many girls are missing’ - Escapee schoolgirl narrates her ordeal

- It was reported that the Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, in Burasari local government area of Yobe state was attacked by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Monday, February 19 

- 94 girls who are students of the school are said to be missing One of the schoolgirls that recently escaped Boko Haram attack on Dapchi town of Yobe state, Aishatu Abdullahi, says it was not all of the students that were so lucky, Premium Times reports. 

Aishatu who claimed the terrorists came in three trucks said many of her classmates are still captured. She also claimed that those who escaped include their school principal, the vice principal and some other teachers. 

She said: “My name is Aishatu Abdullahi. I am a Senior Secondary (SS) student of GGSS Dapchi. 

“I was in the school when the Boko Haram insurgents came at exactly the time we were preparing to break our usual Monday fast. They were shooting guns and everyone was confused; then we started running helter skelter but they were able to. We saw some people pushing some of the students to enter their vehicles. 

“There were no soldiers at the time of the invasion. It was later after the principal placed a call that some soldiers came and then we began to see helicopter hovering around the village. 

”We were in the mosque when the Boko Haram gunmen came into the town. According to the accounts of some of my mates, the Boko Haram told those that were caught in the mosque to sit on the floor, including our teachers. One of our teacher was injured in his leg and hand – I don’t know if it was from gunshot. We don’t know what later happened, the gunmen later left the people in the mosque. 

“They came in three trucks. But they didn’t cart away food from our store as claimed. 

“Some of the other schoolgirls ran with some of our teachers to a house near the school. We saw the women in the house running away, but we had to enter and hide inside the house. All of us that escaped including our school principal, the vice principal and some other teachers stayed in the deserted house till morning. 

”I cannot say how many of us (were involved) but I know that our game master was able to escape with about 60 students into the bush. 

“Many students cannot be accounted for till this moment, some classes are empty, some classes had less than 15 students; some said ten could not be accounted for; mostly all of the classes have missing students. 

“Many of us are traumatised; many were even fainting upon hearing any unusual sounds due to the experience. 
”The school has given us one week to go home for a break; but in all honesty, I am not willing to come back here because we are scared of what could happen to us in the future.” 

Meanwhile,it had earlier reported that 94 students were still missing after suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked a girls’ secondary school in Yobe state on Monday, February 19. 

A source in the school quoted in the report said the number of missing students was established in the afternoon after a head count. 

“After the roll call, 610 out the total number of 704 students have returned. We are still searching for the remaining 94 students,” he said. 

Asked whether the students were abducted, he said: “We cannot say, because the insurgents went into the students’ hostel, and many of these students scaled the fence and escaped into the bushes. No one can tell if they are abducted or not."

Braeking News: University of Maiduguri Attacked by Boko Haram after Releasing Lecturers.

Barely over two weeks after the Boko Haram terrorists released three lecturers of the University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID, they abducted, the terrorist group has again attacked the university.







 Boko Haram members Reports said a suicide bomber of the terrorist group, around 7:50pm on Monday, detonated an explosive close to one of the hostels in the university.

 The three lecturers earlier released by Boko Haram were kidnapped while searching for oil in July last year.


 Their exploration team was ambushed by Boko Haram in an attack that killed at least 69 people, one of the bloodiest assaults of 2017. 



But, after their release, the terrorist group has struck the school again.
