EDUCATION IS THE BEST LEGACY AND POLICY PARENTS CAN GIVE TO THEIR OFFSPRING AND THE PRIMARY LEGACY A NATION CAN GIVE TO HER CITIZENS.

Students of a high school
The strength of a country is determined by the number of the vast majority that is educated. This is because only educated persons are enlightened and enlightenment leads to national and global development. Can this be said of a country like Nigeria, where her vast majority are uneducated because of some reasons ranging from one poor funding and neglect of the education, to poor governance that has led to the lackadaisical attitude towards the quality of the education given; poor infrastructures and training facilities, poor teacher’s welfare, lack of dedication on the part of teachers, lack of high performers, high level of exam malpractices and a few others not to be mentioned. It shouldn’t be a thing of shock; record has it that Nigerians are the most educated Immigrants in the world.
It is no longer news that the rule of law guarantees transparency, credibility and the safety of human rights. Although Nigeria lacks all of the above. However if education is handled with seriousness, where each and every citizen knows their right, and know what to do when their right is violated.  With the proper care of Education in Nigeria, it would go a long way to improve the standard of living of the people, by way of providing with adequate social amenities such as: good health care system, electricity, pipe borne water, good roads and so on. Without proper education, it would be difficult to improve the standard of living in Nigeria.
What is your dream, your aim in life? Do you want to become rich? Do you want to be popular? Do you want to be an extremely successful person who is respected by people?
Well, the key to all this is education. Of course there are exceptions, like sportsmen who don’t really owe their success to their education. However in most cases, your degree is what helps you realize all your dreams. Your educational degree is considered as a proof of your knowledge by many. If you are educated you have more chances of being heard and taken seriously. Generally, an uneducated man will find it harder to express his views and opinions owning to lack of confidence. Even if he does so, people may not take him seriously. Education gives you the confidence to express your views and opinions. In fact, in today’s Nigeria, if you don’t attend a higher education and acquired the papers, you will not be given listening ears in most occasions. We all live in a society which has its own set spoken/unspoken rules and one of them is education. The society expects you to go to school followed by college, get a job, settle down etc.
The fact is, education helps you become a useful member of the society. An educated member certainly has a greater chance to contribute to his community. Education helps you become an active member of the society and participate in the ongoing changes and developments. Moreover, if you are not educated then you are considering being an illiterate.

The Impact of Teachers on a Child's Life

As all parents know, children’s relationships with their teachers can be of great important influence, affecting students’ connection to school, motivation, academic performance, and psychosocial well-being. Students spend a great deal of time at school, and the classroom is the source of many of their interpersonal relationships and activities. Although a child’s social adjustment to school was initially examined primarily through relationships with classroom peers.

The Effect of Teacher on Student Behaviour

Academic achievement: Relationships with teachers may have an impact on students’ learning and academic achievement. Children with better social skills may be more talented at interacting in positive ways with teachers and peers, and teachers may interpret positive interactions as reflecting not only social competence but also intellectual competence. In addition, children who are motivated to seek approval from their teachers may employ achievement-related behaviors to meet this goal. Finally, supportive relationships with teachers may augment students’ motivation to learn and actively participate in subject domains that have traditionally held little interest for them. Increased participation may result in changes in attitude regarding the subject domain as students experience increased desires, interest, and identify utility.

Psychological adjustment: It is been understood that the support from teachers also affect psychological adjustment on a child’s life. In a preschool population, it is been found that secure attachment with a teacher partially compensated for insecure child-mother attachment relationships, predicting teacher-rated social competence and pro-social behavior. In a primary school population, students who present their self more positive bonds with their teachers obtained higher scores on self and teacher-reported social and emotional adjustment outcomes. In addition, primary school children appear to make judgments about their classmates based on perceptions of how the target child interacts with and is perceived by the teacher, which has implications for peer acceptance and rejection. Teacher support also appears to have an impact on psychological adjustment in older students. Students who attended middle schools that deliberately sought to enhance teacher-student relationships tend to have fewer adjustment difficulties during the change. Indeed, changes in perceptions of teacher support predicted changes in both self-esteem and depression among middle school students, such that students who perceived increasing teacher support showed corresponding decreases in depressive symptoms and increases in self-esteem, while students who perceived decreasing teacher support showed increased depressive symptoms and decreased self-esteem.

WORLD BOOK DAY. WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF READING?

Hello Readers;

It's Thursday and guess what?  It's World Book Day.
When last did you read a Book? Are you currently reading a Book? What is that book you would love to read over again and again?

Do something Booky today; read a Book, give a Book, talk about a Book, dress a Book character and you can share a Book.

THE IMPORTANCE OF READING A BOOK?

Reading involves understanding written words. It involves the imagination and the emotions as well as the brain's capacity for logic, memory and course of language use and acquisition.

Bellow entails the basic importance of reading.

1. Exposing Yourself to New Things:
Reading expose you to new things, new information, new ways to solve problems, and new ways to achieve certain things. You might find your new hobbies through reading and you might actually explore one thing you really like and it may end up becoming your career and success in the future. Exploration begins from reading and understanding.

2. Self Improvement
Reading helps for self improvement, reading helps you understand the world more. Reading can also help in building your self confidence, how to plan better before taking action, how to memorize things better and more. All of these self improvements start from reading; through reading, you can create a structured path towards a better understanding in the future.

3. Tools of Communicating

Communication is an important tool we use everyday to connect with people, which through reading, you can build a more solid foundation for communication.

4. Connecting Your Brain

When reading, you connect directly to your brain. Thus, you learn and grow, and therefore you feel and see from the point of view of the author about everything in life.

5. Boost Imagination and Creativity

Reading exposes you to a world of imagination, showing you nothing is impossible in this world. By reading, you are exploring a different angle to see a thing you’ve known, on how different action leads to different results. Books are beyond imagination. It’s like a huge spider web, where you keep linking to more and more to things you knew, and things you just learn, structuring new solutions and answers.

6. Permanence
Written information can be read as many times as you like and by a potentially infinite number of people. Spoken information can be instantly forgotten. If you can read, you can read any time.

7. Strength through collaboration:  Sharing ideas by reading other people’s work has been right at the heart of scientific collaboration.
